Provenance™

What it is
Provenance lets an organisation that sends records to others seal them, so the reader can check what was and was not established. The reader checks the resulting dossier in their own browser, offline, with no account. ("Sealed" means locked with a digital signature and a time-stamp from an outside authority, so a later change shows up.)
Who it is for
- Organisations that send records to others and are asked to stand behind them, such as a supplier sending records to a buyer.
- Their leaders say things like: "How does the person receiving this know it is what we sent?" and "Can they check it without asking us?"
- The check says what was and was not established. It does not say the content is true.
What a customer gets today
| Item | Status | In plain words |
|---|---|---|
| Sealing the records an exporting organisation sends (PRV-02) | Available on request | There is no self-service signup, trial or free tier |
| Checking a dossier in the reader's own browser, offline, with no account (PRV-03) | Available on request | A property of the checker, not a plan or a tier. It says what was and was not established |
| Signing key held by the platform, which MDSL operates, under a standing authorisation the owner gives (EST-28) | Built; the default arrangement, in operation | MDSL operates the platform, so the key is in MDSL's hands under the owner's authorisation |
| Signing key split with the platform, so the two must sign together | Built; no tenant is on it | A missing share means nothing is signed. An owner can request a switch, but completing one needs the key holders named and the key generated with them, and that tooling does not exist yet |
| Signing key split among the organisation's own key holders, with no share held by the platform | Built; no tenant is on it | A missing share means nothing is signed. An owner can request a switch. Completing a switch needs the key holders named and the key generated with them, and that tooling does not exist yet |
| Evaluation access | Available on request | A one-time link issued at MDSL's discretion |
The custody arrangements were established from the code on 19 October 2026 by an AI agent; no person has audited them.
Pricing
Provenance is priced per exporting organisation per month, with add-ons. The published prices are those in PRV-01; quote no other. No pilot or evaluation price exists, and checking a dossier is not a tier.
How to introduce it
- "When you send records to a buyer or a regulator, how do they know afterwards that nothing was changed?"
- "Could the person receiving them check that without an account and without calling you?"
- "Who holds the signing key today, and would your customers want that to be you alone?"
What to say and what never to say
A distributor works to the same wording. MDSL describes Provenance this way: an exporting organisation seals its records; the reader checks the dossier in their own browser, offline, with no account; the check says what was and was not established. It is available on request. Key custody is described only as the table above states it.
MDSL does not use these words about any product: tamper-proof, court-defensible, legally admissible, compliant, certified, immutable, safe. Checking a dossier is never described as a free tier, a free plan or free access to Provenance, and MDSL does not offer a trial, a free demo, open signup, a pilot price, a volume discount or an unlimited plan. A price other than those on the status page is not quoted, and any absolute term needs approved wording from MDSL first.
What we provide you
- The status page entries to hand to a customer
- Direct contact with John Stroh for any question you cannot answer
- Customer access, when we agree it, arranged directly by John Stroh, including any evaluation link
Next step
The next step is for the distributor to name the organisation they have in mind and who it sends records to; John Stroh then confirms what can be shown and issues any evaluation link himself. The subscription itself is between the customer and MDSL.
Nothing in this note is an offer, and no exclusivity, territory or margin is agreed or implied by it. Any arrangement today is with MDSL. If MIO is formed, it may later be assigned to MIO, and the terms would say so. Prices are those on the status page; quote no other.
